Volunteering on a Care project in Nepal is a chance to make a real difference to children in the centre where you will work, not merely through the development of their social and life-skills, but also through exposing them to new ideas and cultures. Your assistance will also support the dedicated, but overstretched, staff who will always appreciate having you there to help. Many of the children will have health or behavioural problems, or may require extra attention due to mental or physical disabilities.
Although conditions are basic, the centre will have space and facilities for your group to organise some basketball or football matches. Other outdoor games will be well received alongside arts and crafts activities and help with informal teaching. The centre where you will work might suffer from a chronic lack of resources, so your work as a volunteer will be challenging and you will have to be resourceful. Part of your project could include helping to paint or decorate a room of the centre to brighten it up for the children.
Nepal is a tiny, stunning land of snow-capped mountains, majestic old temples and the colourful city of Kathmandu, where our projects are based, is becoming an extrovert and lively destination. Nepal entices all kinds of people - and they don't go home disappointed. The geographical location of Nepal makes it one of the most bio diverse countries on the planet. As well as the mountains you will find windswept deserts, green paddy fields and jungles teeming with exotic wildlife.
