Sri Lanka Care and Community
- Who? Groups of 5 – 20 school students aged 16+
- When? Projects have flexible dates and run all year round
- Where? Near Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Your group will be working in an orphanage or day care centre in a small town on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka leading games or educational activities such as helping children learn the alphabet or organising arts and crafts. In the afternoons you will assist in other activities including helping with homework, organising and playing sports and games or reading with a child individually.
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to visit a Tsunami affected area. Work has been ongoing since the Tsunami hit in 2004 and thankfully most of the affected families have been re-housed. Still, a lot of work is needed to regenerate local communities and provide extra educational support to children affected by the tragedy. These projects will give you a great chance to continue the good work done by our past volunteers. You might be helping with basic conversational English lessons or organising a sports day where children from local communities can get involved.
Sri Lanka's population is multi-religious and multi-ethnic, and its cultural heritage is equally as rich and diverse. Sri Lanka is teeming with varied and exotic wildlife species and with national parks, wetlands, rainforest reserves and stunning beaches, her landscape couldn’t be more diverse. The food in Sri Lanka is a real pleasure and wherever you go, you will find the Sri Lankan people are always extremely friendly.
