A Business project in China will give your group a unique insight into the fusion of Western-style Capitalism and Eastern-style Communism in one of the world's fastest growing economies. Your group will be divided into pairs and you will be assigned a supervisor who will be able to advise and support you during your stay. You will work on the placement most relevant to you and your areas of interest, ranging from accountancy to human resources and marketing to property development.
During the placement, you will be expected to be punctual and professional, working an average of 35 hours per week, usually Monday-Friday. The working day is split in two by a lunch break during which time everyone in the office will usually head out to eat together. The work you do will depend on the placement but be prepared to be challenged! You will get involved with the day-to-day activities of the office whether it is contacting clients, working with business support teams, putting together portfolios, researching for current or future projects or attending meetings or working on set briefs.
China is the world’s most populous country and has one of the world's oldest and continuous civilizations, consisting of cultures dating back more than six millennia. Working in Shanghai, one of the world's largest cities, will give you a great opportunity to experience Chinese lifestyle and witness first-hand how quickly China is changing and adapting to Western influences. Projects Abroad offers groups a taste of this contradictory, flourishing culture by living in shared apartments in the dazzling city of Shanghai, where you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to sampling local dishes, entertainment or attractions.
