Based in the busy, vibrant city of Shanghai, your group will experience a Law placement that will undoubtedly reflect corporate life in China’s modern, evolving and fast-moving society. There are many new western companies taking advantage of China’s increasingly open economy to set up a Chinese division. Western companies arriving in China need to adapt to the new environment and a different legal system and the majority of these firms need legal assistance to satisfy local business requirements
Your group will be divided into pairs and you will be assigned a supervisor who will be able to advise and support you during your stay. You will work on the placement most relevant to you and your areas of interest; ranging from banking law, mergers and acquisitions to corporate intellectual property, taxation and insolvency. You will work alongside local lawyers and your language abilities and understanding of western culture and law will be useful to Chinese law firms.
China is the world’s most populous country and has one of the world's oldest and continuous civilizations, consisting of cultures dating back more than six millennia. Working in Shanghai, one of the world's largest cities, will give you a great opportunity to experience Chinese lifestyle and witness first-hand how quickly China is changing and adapting to Western influences. Projects Abroad offers groups a taste of this contradictory, flourishing culture by living in shared apartments in the dazzling city of Shanghai, where you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to sampling local dishes, entertainment or attractions.
