Your group might be based in Accra, Cape Coast, Kumasi or the Akuapem Hills on our Medicine project in Ghana. We offer placements for groups training to be Physiotherapists, Doctors, Nurses, Midwives and Dentists, so the hospital or clinic where you work will depend on your chosen area of specialisation.

When you first arrive at the hospital you will discuss your work schedule with your Projects Abroad co-ordinator and the placement supervisor who will be a member of the hospital staff. You will have the opportunity to visit a number of departments during your placement, shadow your supervisor on their rounds and will complete various tasks and duties. Our Medicine placements offer a fantastic opportunity for you to put your skills and training to good use whilst gaining valuable work experience.

Ghana is a colourful, exciting and popular place to spend some time on a volunteer project. Once the British colony known as the 'Gold Coast', it is renowned for the friendliness and warmth of its people. Ghana has great beaches, wild savannah and dense rainforests. This English-speaking country provides volunteers with a wonderful introduction to Africa; it is politically-stable, safe, affordable and rewarding to visit.
