Nepal Physiotherapy
- Who?Groups of 3 – 6 students aged 18+
- When? Projects have flexible dates and run all year round
- Where? Kathmandu, Nepal.

Your group will help out busy local staff in Nepal where there is a real shortage of physiotherapists. Your placement will begin by shadowing local staff to help you to get an idea of how a busy physiotherapy department works before taking a more hands-on role. Based in a hospital in Kathmandu, you will work with patients with physical disabilities or people who have had injuries that haven't been treated correctly.
From day one, you'll come across neglected orthopaedic conditions such as TB, polio, post-burn contractures and cerebral palsy. Your group will have the opportunity to work with inpatients and with outpatients who attend a couple of times in the week, sometimes travelling many hours for an appointment. As well as gaining significant experience with plenty of hands-on work, you will find yourselves busy and in demand from your first day and the work you do will be greatly appreciated by both staff and patients alike.
Nepal is a tiny, stunning land of snow-capped mountains and majestic old temples. The colourful city of Kathmandu, where our projects are based, is becoming an extrovert and lively destination. Nepal entices all kinds of people - and they don't go home disappointed. The geographical location of Nepal makes it one of the most bio- diverse countries on the planet. As well as the mountains you will find windswept deserts, green paddy fields and jungles teeming with exotic wildlife.
