Drama in Romania

Groups will be based in the ancient city of Brasov, where there is a growing theatre community but a lack of theatre education. Using your group’s skills and specialisations, you will be leading workshops, coaching drama groups and learning techniques to teach English through Drama. You’ll have the opportunity to meet and work with professionals from the local theatre community and this may involve workshops, discussions, collaborative performances, presentations or even assisting with a current production.

Teaching drama in an elementary, middle or high school will involve using games and songs, creative writing, improvisation and leading workshops focusing on your areas of interest. With various theatre festivals taking place throughout the year, your group might be given the chance to coach actors in script analysis, performance or direction. Due to the changing academic schedules of the students and with some workshops and performances taking place during evenings and weekends your group will need to be prepared for working flexible hours.

Projects Abroad Romania has its base in the historic city of Brasov, capital of Transylvania. Set in the Carpathian Mountains, Brasov is an unusual combination of impressive historical squares and palaces, sandwiched between former-Communist tower blocks. There are many sights, museums, restaurants and a full cultural calendar of events. Accommodation is with a local host family in the town and to be with a Romanian family and their friends is an entertaining and enlightening experience in itself!
