Group trips - information for parents

If you have a son or daughter who is thinking of joining a group trip Projects Abroad is a good option. We organise everything to make a trip of a lifetime a possibility for your son or daughter. Projects Abroad has experience working with all sorts of students and groups ranging from school groups to guide groups. If you want to find out more information on the trip don’t hesitate to get in touch.

What are the aims & objectives of Projects Abroad trips?

These vary from group to group but will generally combine some community based work alongside some tourist activities. Projects Abroad arranges bespoke trips for each group. The schedule will fit in with the interests of the group. You will find your son or daughter returns home having had an amazing experience and something great to add to their CV and UCAS form.

What staff support does Projects Abroad offer in the destinations?

Before departure our staff are happy to meet up with groups of parents, teachers and students to give advice about all aspects of the group trip. This is normally arranged via a school teacher several weeks in advance of the trip starting. It’s a great opportunity to have all your questions answered and concerns put to rest. Once overseas Projects Abroad have full time staff in every destination that will support your child throughout their time on our programme. We employ over 500 staff worldwide who make detailed arrangements before groups arrive and work alongside the group every day to provide guidance, support and safety when it’s really needed. Schools often send a teacher with the group for additional support and reassurance.

Projects Abroad staff has more than 21 years’ experience supporting groups from application to departure. We can give ideas on fundraising. We can help the group arrange flights, insurance and we’ll give advice on what your son or daughter should take with them on the trip. Each member of the group will be given their own personal webpage with full details of the trip and as a parent you are encouraged to log in and read this information to.

What type of accommodation will my son or daughter stay in?

We have a range of accommodation for group trips. This ranges from living with local host families to staying in a student hostel or in a small hotel or in wooden lodges depending on the wishes of the group.

Who has been on the programme before?
