Keen photographer Angela Pitt is currently exhibiting the photographs from her travels in Peru at the Broadstairs Campus of Christ Church University. Following a month-long project with volunteering organisation Projects Abroad, in Taricaya Peru in June 2010, Angela decided to show her fascinating photographs to the public with the hope of inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.

Angela explains, “I'm nearly 65 and was the oldest woman they had ever had on the project but my age didn't seem to matter. The jungle, Taricaya Rescue Centre and the nearest town Puerto Maldonado, were great places to photograph so when I got back I contacted Christ Church University to see if they would be interested in taking a look at the amazing things I had seen and experienced on the project. I hope that these photographs will help inspire people, of any age, to take on an adventure just as I did.”

Her photographs include a variety of sights such as the colourful fruit markets, vast jungle and local wildlife like toucans, caimans and the striped owl.

The exhibition, ‘Peru’, is open to the public during normal university hours in the University Hall at Broadstairs Campus and will be running until the end of April.
