• Volunteer in Romania
  • Projects Abroad, the leading international volunteering company, is today announcing its online global journalism project. Voices of the World will provide a voice and a forum to young, aspiring journalists to exchange opinions, face prejudices and discover mutual consensus through the medium of written word. This is a unique initiative that will be shared by thousands of young people from all over the world.

Projects Abroad Launches New Cultural Exchange Initiative: Voices of the World

Voices of the World is an online weekly newspaper and magazine that will also allow young people from all over the world, whether volunteers or local residents, to engage in dialogue and learn about one another through journalistic exploration of (always pressing, sometimes controversial) topics that greatly affect our world today and their world tomorrow. The initiative will benefit from Projects Abroad’s wealth of experience in organising voluntary journalism placements all over the world. Its 7000 annual volunteers span more than 40 different countries.

To recruit aspiring journalists, Projects Abroad’s offices in 14 destination countries (Romania, Ghana, India, Bolivia, China, South Africa, Senegal, Mexico, Mongolia, Moldova, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and Costa Rica), will create local journalism clubs to accept local students who show an aptitude and an interest in writing.

Peter Slowe, director and founder at Projects Abroad explains, “Under the supervision of a Projects Abroad representative in each destination, and with the help and participation of the Projects Abroad journalism volunteers, students will be encouraged and empowered to discuss topics with their counterparts in other countries and to research, interview and finally write, about those topics chosen.”

The best articles will be published in the online magazine Voices of the World, and any other material produced will be available to the public on the website of the publication,, which will also function as a weekly newspaper.
