Care & Pandas in China
- Who?Groups of at least 5
- When?Projects have flexible dates and run all year round
- Where?Chengdu, China
If your group wants to spend some quality time interacting with children but also spice things up and have the incredible opportunity to work with giant pandas, then this project couldn’t be more perfect for you.
Your group will have the unique opportunity to work with the world’s most recognisable endangered species at the Dujiangyan Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. At Dujiangyan you are surrounded by the numerous waterfalls and breath-taking scenery. The group will be involved in preparing food for pandas, cleaning out enclosures and observing panda behaviour.
The group will also work at a care centre in Chengdu, one of China’s thriving cities, and help the local staff by playing games with the children and helping them with basic education. At the centre you will be interacting with children whose ages range from 2 to 14. As volunteers, you will be adding to the children’s quality of life, not only through the development of their social skills, but also by exposing them to new cultures and ideas. While volunteering on this project, your group will stay in a hotel or guest house.
Over the weekend your group will get the opportunity to visit the Du Jiang Yan water project, marvel at the Leshan Giant Buddha, the world’s tallest stone Buddha, visit the Wenshu Monastery or spend a day exploring more of the incredible sites that the city of Chengdu has to offer.
