Gap Year work with Children in Fiji
Gap Year work with Children in Fiji

Being a volunteer on a group trip can make a significant difference in a short timescale. In Fiji, a world-renowned group of islands of sandy beaches and turquoise waters, there is a real need for volunteer help in kindergartens in the poorer districts of the large towns.

Volunteer on Care projects overseas in Fiji
Volunteer on Care projects overseas in Fiji

As a volunteer group, you will spend the mornings in a kindergarten supporting the teachers with class activities. You will also help with lunch and playtime and basic care of the children. All these children thrive with dedicated care and one-to-one attention so you can have a real enriching experience with them.

In the afternoon you will focus your time on specific projects. This may be re-decorating classroom at the kindergarten or a local care centre. As a group of volunteers, your efforts will be noticeable over your stay and will really make a difference to the children you have come to help.

While you are volunteering in Fiji, you will stay in an apartment or hostel but you'll get a real insight into the island’s culture. Projects Abroad will also arrange a number of excursions and day trips to various places of interest around the island of Viti Levu, where our volunteers are based. Fiji is a fascinating place with a real juxtaposition between the beautiful untouched beaches with thriving tourism, and poor communities struggling to improve their lives.

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
