Volunteers on Group Trips make a tangible difference, and you will see this develop with your own eyes on a Care and Community project in Kenya. Kenya is an iconic country with its world famous national parks and tribal cultures, but behind the beautiful and rich fa├žade are poor communities and vulnerable children who need your help.

In the mornings of your group trip you will help with a small building project. This may be building new facilities in a school for the children, such as a toilet block, or new classroom. You may help painting and decorating an existing building to help create a more conducive environment for the children to learn and grow.

The afternoons are taken up working with the children. You will spend time looking after children and playing with them. Working one-to-one or in small groups, you will have a real positive impact on these children, while supporting the existing staff. You input will help stimulate these children and improve the quality of their lives. Organising outdoor games, and setting up sports events such as a mini sports day or team competition is really popular and fun for all.

During your stay, groups stay in a hostel or apartment. Projects Abroad will organise several trips and activities in your spare time so you can visit some tourist sites such as Menengai Crater, a lake or go on a mini safari. You will also take part in Swahili workshops to help you with your communication with the children. This trip will give you so much experience; you wont find a postcard large enough to write home about it!

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
