On this project your group will take part in a wide variety of daily activities designed to improve the conditions in the local community. A large amount of your group’s time will be spent doing practical activities, ranging from gardening and cleaning, to renovating and painting at some of our placements.
Spanish lessons can be included in your group project in order to help you learn some of the local language and our practical workshops will allow you to interact more closely with the community. The group will be working with local Peruvians and may include time working in a kindergarten or day care centre for special needs children. Other opportunities to get involved with include helping to organise a play day with the children or alternatively you can spend some time working with the elderly in a care home.
Your group will be based in Cusco, known for its archaeological remains. Here you and your fellow volunteers will stay in a local guest house or hostel, providing the perfect environment to really experience the Peruvian culture.
Over the weekend you’ll visit the breath-taking site of Machu Picchu that Peru is famous for, and soak up the atmosphere in one of the bustling and colourful markets found throughout the Sacred Valley. In Cusco there is plenty to see and do, as the city is known as the traveller’s centre of South America. Activities available include white-water rafting, horse riding and visiting historical sites.
