Volunteers on the Building project in Jamaica work alongside an experienced local builder who will teach your group all the necessary construction skills to enable you to fully take part in the construction process and assist with all levels of building. You will have the opportunity to become part of a committed and dedicated team assisting with a variety of building tasks and techniques. Depending on the project, these might include building and installing play equipment, excavation and land clearing, mixing concrete, laying bricks, rendering walls, carpentry, roof and ceiling repairs, replacement of doors, painting, cleaning, and other minor renovation work.

Building volunteers can also get involved in our outreach scheme to help to renovate a house for a needy individual who may have been affected by fire, flood or hurricane or may be living in unacceptable conditions.

At the weekend, your group will go on a trip to one of the island's famous beaches or caves. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourselves into the rich music, dance, food and other cultural aspects for which Jamaica is known.

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
