The other half of your day will involve looking after children in an orphanage near your Journalism placement. Your group will be divided into smaller teams to work in different homes for orphans housing about ten to twelve children in each. You will helps staff with daily tasks such as feeding the children but your ideas and energy when it comes to organising games and activities will be hugely appreciated. You might also like to help teach some of the children basic, conversational English, as well as involving them in activities such as song, dance, drama and sports during their free time.

Projects Abroad Romania has its base in the historic city of Brasov, capital of Transylvania. Set in the Carpathian Mountains, Brasov is an unusual combination of impressive historical squares and palaces, sandwiched between former-Communist tower blocks. There are many sights, museums, restaurants and a full cultural calendar of events. Living with a local host family in the town, and to be with or around a Romanian family and their friends is an entertaining and enlightening experience in itself!

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
