Physiotherapy in Nepal

- When? Projects have flexible dates and run all year round
- Where?Chitwan, Nepal
This physiotherapy programme, designed to give you an unparalleled experience in Nepal, is based in the city of Chitwan. Close to one of Nepal’s national parks, the group will spend time in a local centre for the disabled and the Physiotherapy Department of the large local hospital. Thanks to the incredible work that takes place there, these are always inspiring placements that offer an excellent opportunity for volunteers interested in a potential career in physiotherapy.
As a volunteer you will shadow a local member of staff and, depending your abilities, you may be able to assist them further into your placement. Your group will be able observe on busy physiotherapy wards, gaining experience difficult to get in the West.
We have a number of different placements available to groups in Nepal. One of our placements involves helping disabled children or adults in rehabilitation centres who have been involved in accidents. Your group will have the opportunity to provide support and care, whilst improving their standard of living. Volunteers also work in large hospitals and take part in various outreach programmes, including visits to health camps and schools.
As a group you can all stay in a hotel close to the areas where you are working or stay with host families in Chitwan. The group will participate in evening activities planned by our local staff, such as traditional dancing lessons or Nepalese dumpling making classes.
At the weekend Projects Abroad will organise for your group to take a trip to the beautiful nature reserve of Chitwan National Park, a world Heritage site, or to explore the central markets and local temples.
This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
