Projects Abroad are proud to provide exciting volunteering opportunities for anyone completing a Duke of Edinburgh Award. We have a range of projects for young people to get involved in, whether at Bronze, Silver or Gold level. By volunteering with us your group can contribute towards the progress of their award and at the same time be a part of an exciting and worthwhile project.

More and more people are choosing to volunteer with Projects Abroad as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award. Projects Abroad has been specialising in arranging volunteer placements in the developing world since it was founded in 1992. Over the last decade we have sent over 90,000 volunteers from each corner of the globe to hundreds of different projects across 29 destinations. By choosing to complete sections of your award overseas, you will be able to have different experiences from those on offer at home.

There are a wide range of volunteer trips that can be joined by a group completing their Duke of Edinburgh award. Volunteers often combine several elements on one project and take on a variety of different roles. Your group could gain hands on experience working with animals in South Africa one week and the next building better homes in the local community.

Just like the Duke of Edinburgh Award itself, Projects Abroad encourages volunteers to think of others whilst developing skills and gaining experience. We recognise that every group will have their own aspirations for a project, so we offer you the chance to customise your placement. Choose where you go, how long for and when you want to leave and return. You tell us your time frames and we will fit these in with the needs and requirements in our destination countries.
