Congratulations to Kathrin Boy, the 1000th Projects Abroad volunteer from Germany who signed up last week!

Michael Harms the Director of our German Recruitment office tells us "Kathrin is 29 years old and from Berlin. She will be joining a Care & Community project in India for three months starting in September 2007.

Three weeks ago, the German office had an Open Day in Berlin with two special guests - our director Peter Slowe and Sarah Milnes from the UK office. Kathrin came along to the Open Day to find out more about our projects. The Open Day was a great success and helped encourage Kathrin to join us. Along with Ghana, India is one of the most popular destinations for German volunteers.

Why India I asked Kathrin? She says "I read a lot about India, saw many films, and now I want to see how it looks like by myself. And as it is my first trip to somewhere out of Europe, I did not want to go with out an organisation."

Since 1992 Projects Abroad has sent over 15,000 volunteers to over 22 countries around the world. The German office was established in October 2001, and was the second overseas recruitment office worldwide."

Lucky Kathrin was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Michael. We wish her and of course all the other volunteers a fantastic time and many wonderful experiences overseas.
