The greatly anticipated visit of U.S. president, Barack Obama and his family to Ghana on 10th and 11th July was met by much excitement as this was to be the current president's first visit to Africa while in office. For Projects Abroad volunteers and staff in Accra and Cape Coast, in particular, this brought the possibility of coming face to face with the most powerful man in the world. Here in Accra, some were fortunate enough to see the President from a distance as he visited La General Hospital while Assistant Country Manager, Kirsty Law, was able to get a front row position for Barack Obama's final speech at the airport in Accra as he stood alongside Ghanaian President Atta Mills. In his speech, President Obama praised the relationship between Ghana and the United States and reflected on his visit before leaving the stage to meet and greet the crowd. "Shaking hands with the President and Michelle Obama was incredible," said Kirsty, "I can still hardly believe it!"
