Building project invited to showcase at the World Design Capita
The project is now in its third phase of development; a literacy room has been built, as well as a toilet, a wash area and two rooms. All this has been done using eco-sandbag and eco-beam technology. Volunteers at this project have also planted a bio-diversity vegetable garden.
The achievements of the Building project have been recognised as Deen, the Project Manager, was invited to showcase the project at the World Design Capital.
The World Design Capital (WDC) is an initiative of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) and their initiative for the WDC to promote its city project management that celebrates the merits of design. This initiative seeks to highlight the accomplishments of cities that are truly leveraging design as a tool to improve the social, cultural and economic life of the cities, throughout a yearlong programme of design-related events.
Deen and his team are working alongside the City of Cape Town to create a quality and functional establishment that will serve all members of the community, and their project will be used as a prototype in many other informal areas in and around the city of Cape Town.
