The Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, recently commended Projects Abroad for its work in the island nation.

“He seemed really interested and was very happy that we decided to set up in Samoa,” says Katy Woolley, Country Director for Projects Abroad Samoa. “We talked about future projects, like Medicine and Nutrition and he agreed that this would be a fantastic idea.”

Projects Abroad Samoa has been a volunteer destination since 2012 and is based in Apia, Samoa’s capital city. Projects Abroad runs a variety of placements that give volunteers the opportunity to work in Care, Teaching, Physiotherapy and Journalism, among other things. An exciting new Rugby project has also recently launched.

With the support of the Prime Minister, Projects Abroad Samoa is looking to impact communities, while encouraging a valuable cross-cultural exchange with the local people. “We are hoping to partner with the local office of the Red Cross later this year in order to be able to affect greater change in the rural areas of this beautiful island,” says Katy.
